Known as Lawrence of Arabia, Thomas Edward Lawrence (1888-1935) played a major role at the British Foreign Office during the Sinai and Palestine campaign and the Arab revolt against Ottoman Turkish rule in 1916-1918. Author of the Seven Pillars of Wisdom, his achievements in Arabia include the crossing of Kub Al Khali, the capture of Aqaba and the 49-hours camel crossing of the Sinai that has made him a legend.
